We get a few of these threads. The best thing seems to be knowledge. Impress them with how much you know. Let them see you reading books about snakes or looking things up on the internet.
Write down for them why it is so important for you to have a snake and what you will learn from keeping one. Make sure they realise that so long as you have the right set up, snakes do not need endless care like other pets. Just fresh water every day, checking they are ok and spot cleaning, feeding as needed. Persevere, without winging but NEVER give up. Good luck

Lol, an I think most of them are from me
![]() Anyway, Its crap when they say no, but you know your parents better than any of us. Iv tried almost everything on my Mam an Dad, but they still say no. Dad doesn't like the idea of pets and mam doesnt like the idea of getting a snake. I looked into getting a snake so much that if you put me in a room full of them, I feel i could sort them all into boxes each labeled with only their scientific names on it. Then feed them all what they need, decorate each of their boxes that is ideal to their life style AND not get bit once! But they still say no. Try that though! Mine said no, but yours might not. Also, I would try the "responsibility" thing. Also make sure they realise how easy they are to look after and make them see that they wont have to worry about them at all. Im gonna try get mine to meet a snake, but living in shetland thats kinda dificult. If you stay near a rep shop, get them in!

Not quite the same, but I live with my Fiance and he said no more reptiles after I had 2 bearded dragons, the way I got around this was buying more anyway
Not sure that'd work with your parents though lol.

See their refusal as a positive thing. buy books instead of animals. learn all you can. then one day when you move out into your own place.... you will be knowledgable enough to keep what you so wish. thats what i did. my parents refused to let me have any animals as a kid. didn't do me any harm mate. so in conclusion.... while we are de-pooing our cages, you are reading up on all aspects of herpetoculture. many of us would see you to be in an enviable position.
