Angry common boa proof

hi all
my step mum has gone to work and has been shot down in flames about my new common boa.
can anyone offer some words of wisdom to her telling her friends what fools they are - for saying they will grow to 30ft and kill and eat the whole family while we sleep.
i know this is crap but she lacks belief in me
and would prefer to hear it from complete strangers she has never met
anything is good
i will be printing whole thread and showing her work colleagues and giving a true 2 fingered salute to their ignorance

grrrrrr
Cheers for any comments

BCI (common boa) rarely get over 10ft are nice tame and docile snake (aslong as handled when younge) and would not be capable or eating a human and probz wouldnt try to either theyd rather have the cat (JOKES) nah they great snakes to keep docile decent size the largest of the sex are female averaging at 8ft now 30ft leads to more along lines of retics and a 30ft retic would be classed as a monster i belive the world record is only 32ft so 30ft is massive (and to you work collegues ya dont belive this then well......fu** ya)

i bought my common boa about 5 months ago and tthey are really docile gentle snakes with an amazing temprement. they can grow 8-10 feet but that takes time and your confidence grows with the snake. i have held a couple adults and most are very soppy things just sitting about. there have been no reported incidents of snakes eating humans that i know of im sure someone will correct me. boas arnt seen as the giants of the snake world really, the giants are reticulated pythons, burmese pythons, african rock pythons, anaconda's and i cant think of anymore! but even they in captivity with experience and with reguler handling can get really tame as well and wont hunt you down and kill you in your sleep. My mum was the same she had nightmares every night for three nights leading up to me getting the snake but when she saw it she was a little better but not mutch! i eventually got her to hold it, it was her that said she wanted to aswell.

I have 7 bci's the biggest is an 8foot female and the smallest a 4foot Crawl Cay. Every single one of them has a great temperament. In fact the bigger they are the calmer they are, in this house anyway. None of them could eat a person, in fact they don't even bother with my 8 cats, which they could eat.

I fail to understand why adults are so gullible about such things. I would expect a person to research and check information before accepting lies and scaremongering as cold hard fact.

Absolutely.
ALso I have small children...there is no way I would have any snake that i thought would hunt down and eat the kids.....lol
My 2 Bccs are docile, calm, and happy to have a stroke off anyone(supervised of course) and they have been into lots of playschools and the local primary school.
Ignorance abot reptiles is unbelievable sometimes.
I would be more concerned about peoples dogs than my snakes.....

Agree with everyone else on this. I had a 7ft male who was as docile as anything. And I had 4 kids in the house at the time, the youngest being 2! And I'm a responsible parent. I'd like to see a boa grow to that size! Things like retics or green anacondas, yes, maybe, but in exceptional circumstances imo. Unfortunately, it's the medias fault, general scaremongering when it come to snakes, implying they ALL grow to 30ft monster that'll eat everything and anything! It's all rubbish!

My boa is so soft I'm constantly surprised by his lack of fur...
