As Stew says; that doesn't sound much like a defensive bite.

If he's trying to constrict (i.e. kill you), it sounds more like he wants to eat you – best of luck.

I was chatting with Bob Clark about Slayers after he bodged up my order last year.

He told me they were the same type of snake as Jampeas.

Size only I'm afraid, as he also said all this Slayers were nutters!

With regards to handling; start by hooking him out and use a pair of nice thick gloves to handle him.

He just doesn't trust you yet. Hopefully that will come with time!

Wow, fair enough was just interested. Good luck with taming him down. He sure is beautiful. Perhaps you can get another and begin the uk breeding program?

im telling you that male was a bitch mate, never known anything retic like it, it would come out to attack at any attempt,
when i collected him he was already tubed up, lol.
and was told he has his moments lol,
i got him home, open the tub slightly and wham, he got my hand and wouldnt let go, carpet was soaked in blood,
if i wore gloves, he would bit my legs, or anything else he could attach himself to,inner thighs, arms, even managed my shoulder once, ,he would use branches as flying platform for facial attacks,
what a character, hes as good as gold now,at 1 point i hought id never get him to chill out, he proper hated me for some reason, lol
think temprements of selayers ,like pattern are similar to sulas(maks)
nowty,
would be intrested to find general temprement of butons as there similar

you are looking at about 12-14ft for full grown selayers in captivity compared to the giant sulawesi and makassars which are available.
