Now to wonder what the odds will give me if I get some successful babies - I know what possibilities there are based on the genetics of the parents, but it's still going to be a surprise when each nose pips the shell...
I've never had a corn snake eat before the post-lay shed, but they'll drink for about 5 minutes if you offer them some nice fresh water!

Congrats

My corn who laid 21 eggs yesterday, ate a mouse as soon as I had removed her from the eggs, then had a drink which lasted several minutes. i thought she would drain the bowl dry lol.

I reckon any keeper that's bred their animals has had a flappy moment on their very first lay, I know I would flap, jump and dance about til I realise the curtains are open. Grats mate, hope they turn out well.

Congrats
I still get eggsited at laying time even after all these years.
She may make you jump when you remove her from the eggs, most of my corns will try to nudge my hands away, but this is normaly bluffing.

I got one little "hfffff" out of her, and a bit of a shrug at me sideways, and then she let me pick her up and move her into a nice freshly cleaned tub.

Fifteen eggs, not bad at all for a first clutch, and they LOOK good (although the sphagnum moss that she laid 'em in has left tan staining in splotches) so far.

And when I defrosted a rat pup for her (with cuts in the back skin so it'd be easier for her to digest) she just opened her mouth and looked at me like she was saying "I did all that work, now you put the food in my mouth. I'm too tired to do my normal WWE wrestling imitation." Didn't appear to leave a dent when it went down either - she just sucked it down and went to bask.

I'll give her another light meal on Friday since I don't know how she FIT all those eggs in her to begin with and see how the eggs go... they're in a tub at the back of one of the Reptile Room II racks.
