Unhappy Poor snake

Was going to be taking one of my snakes to the vet yesterday as was worried aout it but on sat afternoon got a phone call from one of my partners mates to say he had just come back from hols to find his boa didnt look well at all, so we rushed over to have a look, found it foaming at the mouth and alot of liquid ran out of its mouth, RI? I said.

Said the earliest we could see the vet was monday and that I could take this boa instead of mine (vet didnt have time to see both sadly) as this was more of an emergency. As my partners mate and his wife were both working on monday they dropped the boa off first in a box at my house, put it beside the heater to keep really warm in the sitting room,

When I got back from work about half 12 (vet was at 3) checked on the boa and OMG had never seen so many mites lay ontop of a boa befor (had a hunch a while back about mites but no one ever saw any) my partner bathed it and got hundreds off.

1.15pm me and my grandad headed off to vets (partner at a meeting so couldnt come) Vet was almost horrified looking at the boas eyes, and scale condition, gums were more than white etc.

So vet has kept boa in, since its not my snake I have to wait to hear how it is from partners friend when hes phoned after his work has finnished later on. The waiting is killing me and its not even mine.

Really has been a weekend where nothing has gone/come out right

Omg, what a nightmare for you. Not surprised you are worried. Hope the boa will be ok, waiting is awful.

How is your snake that you were worried about?

Hope your oh's friend will sort the boa problems out, sounds like it has lost half its blood to the mites!!!!

Think his mate (sorry not naming names) Is a little embarrassed he missed all this as said it looked fine befor he went away and when came back he was like this, he had described to me befor the dullness, lifting scales etc so said sounds like mites, he had snake out on paper, bathed and found non, they really are lil buggers so I dont blame him in the slightest just glad its at vets but im not a patient person lol I want to know how it is and the full story.

Funnily enough mine seems himself again, swear they like gving mum a panic attack

Glad yours is ok. When I was reading your thread I thought you were going to say by taking the boa instead your was worse!!!

It can be hard to see mites, so I am sure he had done his best. Let us know how the boa is.

Ps have you got any baby brb's in the pipeline?????
