Okie dokie then if they're solid you'll be fine lol.

The thing is a lot of the red liquid thermometers also use mercury.

That is a link and it shows the exact type of thermometer i had.

You can see the silver balls at the bottom of it. They are the balls that came out and got spilled.

Oh, thank goodness for that.

I have just taken the tank outside a given it a right good clean with the jet washer.

Hopefully, if it was mercury, there is none left now.

I really hope its lead.

Anyone know why lead is used in thermometers?

It reacts well to heat I suppose. Expands pushing the liquid up the tube.

Sorry I thought you meant mercury lol. I dunno why they'd use lead. Maybe like a weight for like fishtanks.

I just hope its lead.
I have given the tank a good clean anyway and the snake is back in.

The lead is possibly just to keep your thermometer the right way up in a fish tank and not part of the temperature recording at all. If floating it keeps the right end under water to get the correct temperature.

Ah, I see what you mean now. Its makes abvious sence.
Well the snake is away so I just hope that when i go downstairs in the morning, shes still with us.
