Default corn breeding, rule of 3? lol, Heres irony for ya then

ok, i got one here for ya... all those rule of 3 freaks.
i've been breeding for years, never EVER had an eggbound snake until now. As many of you know i do at times breed under 300 grams.
WELL, i got this adult female. 3 years, 4 ft or so, 600 grams right...
dumb bitch tried to push out 2 eggs at the same time lol..
so instead of a clutch of 21 eggs, i've been to the vets to try and move the final 14. (other 7 look rough)
so, all you who go by the rule of 3, this proves what a pile of crap that really is.
I have someone less than a mile from me, she has a snake that has laid 10 eggs, all fertile and all came out.. snake is barely 2 ft, and is nder 100 grams after laying. This breeding was apparently an accident, but it just goes to show eh.
For me, if the snake is over 2 years and firm, also over 200 grams i have the option to breed it.
length isnt something that i worry about, you get dwarf people so short snakes isnt a problem.

suppose i better add before someone kick offs..
yes the snake has been to the vets.
She had 2 eggs drained and an injection of oxytocin to induce labour again.
I will look later to see if this has worked.
IF not, then its back in monday for an opp to sort it out.
had to add that, theres always someone that will come on and whine trying to tell me what to do, usually someone who is about to do their gcse exams

i'm merely saying saying that even big corns have problems, and she wasnt fat.. very solid snake

I think it is like people really. In some instances
13 year old can have a baby with no problems and a 35 year old can have problems.

I take the "rule of threes" as a guide but I guess rules are made to be broken

Hope your female is ok Nigel

wow Nige having a little rant there was ya Mate

Hope she's ok now though. Look at me with Chocky this year, she's always laid fertile eggs in the past even though she was never quiet at the desired weight, I spend 6 months getting loads of weight on her for this year, she ends up heavier than she's ever been......... and spits out 14 duds.

See i do kinda agree, i`ve got a 280g female who is around 2 feet, and i know she is proven, she carries plenty of weight for her size so she`s gone to the male...It depends very much on the snake and i think breeders just "know" when they`re ready. I think the rule of 3 is only a guideline, a rough set of figures to be considered but then its up to us to decide if they are ready.

My arguement is, can you visualise in a wild situation a male approaching a female, and the female giving it: "Hold your horses matey, let me just jump on the scales, borrow a tape measure and check my birth certificate, then i`ll tell you if you can get on ok?" Can`t see it somehow. If she`s fertile and willing, she`ll take him, thats nature.

Hope your girl is ok Nige

Ha ha, that image just cracked me up.

"What's a snake like you doing in a place like this?"
