Best way I was told from a friend for achieveing a good skeleton is very simple - maggots!!

Any dead animals I get go to her for taxidermy. Unless they needed a PM done and are past it.

skin the snake and put it in formaldehyde (or however it is spelled) which will preserve the skin

my step dad did it recently to a dead baby pit viper off his mate.

theres a thought i havnt even gone to have a look at it yet so will try and get some pics for you

Mealworms will eat all the skin and flesh off the bone and leave you with a skeleton too, although if you leave it too long they'll destroy the skeleton as well! I know a few people who do taxidermy using mealworms and have little skeletons mounted. I also know people with freezers containing deceased animals - you never know when they might come in handy?!

There's also a university (is it liverpool, or might be london?) where you can send the deceased bodies and they are used for scientific studies (what exactly they do to them I don't know).... local schools studying science / biology may also be interested in bodys for class (we just did frogs back in my day.. )

My vet will do a quick cremation starting around £5 obviously it is higher the bigger the animal.

I believe it's actually illegal to bury non native species in the garden? I'm sure I read that somewhere but I can't remember where now..
