if they are so badly paid, why do it. what i would be asking is hygiene etc. with so many reps etc is the transport thouroghly cleaned after each journey?

i would certainly use a scottish business. and are you saying he can argue with anyone else he likes but he cant voice his opinion on this subject??? i thought thats what forums were for.

being personal about someones education wasnt voicing his opinion.

We do this business because we enjoy it and it helps us get by. Id much rather have a job that gets me by and i enjoy it than be stuck in a job i hate that pays me lots. As for hygeine every reptile is tubbed seperately and if not sent in a container supplied by the seller, then the tub they go in is clean for them to be put in each time

his opinion appears to only apply in ivory towers its easy to come up with a bunch of figures from an office or whatever, but anyone who runs a business will tell you that once up and running most forecasts will fall well short of reality(ask the government) so maybe he should be a little less uppity and take a bit more note of those who are out there doing the job?? One may be forgiven for believing that those who do the courier thing might have some inside knowledge of the subject?? as an aside how many students doing degrees ever get up and start their own businesses? Some of the protagonists in this thread hold at least one degree and some have two,the difference is that they have been out in the world for sometime and have figured out that its not quite the same as studying students think, have had a few come here after telling me how i should be doing things, they all go away with a more practical outlook afterwards

voicing his opinion isnt really what it descended into though.. ( i was posting at same time as u gaz and didnt see your reply... but i have to agree with it wholeheartedly therefore ive edited my reply to add this wee bitty in)

lording his education over people and making out that because he studies law at uni makes him better than everyone else was a tad immature ..

noone likes a know it all.. and noone likes a SNOBBY know it all either..

IM glad I went to UNI ... im glad i studied also for another two diplomas.. yes it taught me bits and bobs but it certainly doesnt make me better than anyone else really.. and ive stil got way loads to learn about this crazy journey they call life..

Im not a snob.. ( well only when it comes to marks and spencers food items... then i admit Im a snob indeedy )

is the actual vehicle thouroughly cleaned too though. doesnt matter if the tubs are cleaned if there is yucky stuff lurking in the actual vehicle.

hmm wait a moment though.. as a thought forget about specific courriers a moment...

how are our reps transported in general.. does that mean we should never buy from fairs / expos or shops....

to and from fairs.... from outside the uk... from up and down the Uk to pet shops and reptile shops.. what about palces like hamm.. or doncaster or any of the other places...

in strerile vans?? with men and woman in protective clothing..

and masks..

with vacum packed packages with no air

im sure some of our beutiful reps we have in our homes right now werent transported in clinical vans with people waering white gloves and masks..

even if a vehicle is steralised each time...

it only takes for the air to land back on it.. or some water or someones hands.. and there we have it... germs.. virus.. blah blah..

so how can we all 100% be completely clean and sterile 24/7 we cant.. its not possible..

life = dirt = germs..

what the courriers can and wil do is their utmost to make sure things are to the best standard possible...

and frankly thats all anyone can ask.. unless we want to start spraying the cars and vans and transport vehicles of ALL the transporters of ALL our reps with SHOW ME THE BUGS sprays.. its not goign to be possible to be 100% sure all germs and bugs that could harm us or the animals are dealt with at every show.. every journey.. every house.. every pair of hands..

if you dont like it dont use it..

if people are happy to take their own vehicles to colect animals fabby ,.,

some either cant or wont..

so therefore a courrier is a perfect choice

do they need you sticking up for them? i asked them, not you. and i buy snakes from reputable breeders, so if they leave thier care well and healthy i want to know they are going to reach me well and healthy. after they reach me, they dont go anywhere else, so i would worry about hygiene in the actual vehicle. they do seem to carry lots of reps.

as sparkle states, every car cannot be completely spotless. As the reptiles are in sealed containers before they get in the car they never come into contact with any surface within the car. Also as sparkle says germs are in the air and will get in through air holes and what not no matter how sparklingly clean the car is. So as we do our upmost to ensure the animal is in a safe clean container for transportation, no one can ever guarentee a contamination free zone unless as sparkle says yet again, in a vacuum packed area
