im not sticking up for THEM,, they hardly need me to do that.. this is getting really silly now... both gremlins and reptile taxi ar good services and most people agree... if you dont thats fine.. were al entitled to our opinions but i wouldnt dare be so arrogant as to tell people who can or cannot reply to a public post i make on a public forum..

im expressing my valid veiwpoint on a forum... its public yes/no???

im not in some daft playground saying

nanananana im not talking to you so dont u talk to me... meh..

if you do not wish anyone else but them to reply then i would suggest a polite Pm to the person you ONLY wish to reply.. its of course a suggestion and by no means am i telling you what you should or shouldnt do or who to talk to or who you can or cannot reply to... were grown ups here.. not MUMS shouting at their kids for stepping outta line..

were not mindreaders.. unfortunately and we cant tell when its ok or not ok to reply publically...

if you dont want a public reply from general forumites its not always a good idea to publically question .. sorry if i caused you any offence in replying.. i didnt mean to.. but im mature enogh to appologise if my reply riled you in any way shape or form...

i shall tottle off back to the lizard section ( walking away sometimes is better than trying to fight a battle thats made from candy floss and leftover pizza slices ) ..... i forgot why i stay away from the snake section..

thanks for reminding me

if i recal in the past when posting publically to one another we seem to mange to descend into a stupid petty forum arguement therefore this time i will not bother my botty... i shall instead remind myself..

SNAKE SECTION = STRESS

lol

( and get my crap in my loft ready for sundays car bootsale)

hope everyone has a fabby weekend.. and enjoys the sun

depends what i am taking and what its going in tbh.. but yes, things like the vans get swept out and so on.. we use hand steralisers etc etc

if a snake in a bag, in a tub, in a poly box, is in my boot, its not contributing an awful lot to the dirt in there, and nor is it in contact with much either, bar the box the seller put it in.

incidently i have just been negotiating with exotics direct cover extensions to make sure i am covered for some stuff that may be coming up.. this is some of what my policy does or does not cover...

does not cover death from stress, or illness on route, but only external damage - ie something falls on them, i crash and so on. if something overheats and dies, it does not cover me

covers animals up to a value of £5000 each, applied individually, not as a joint cargo, but would require proof of value for a claim. ie a het with no paper work might not be covered, this however would be have to be covered by the seller, who should provide paperwork for me to be able to use in the event of a claim, no paper work, and i cannot be held responsible if the insurance guy does not know a "het *something funky* " on sight..

includes public liability, but not liability for damage to the animal. so in the case of that tegu with the broken leg, i would not have been covered unless i could prove something fell on it.. if someone broke in and got mauled by a raccoon, or let it out and it mauled someone, i would have liability cover tho.

does not cover loss through delay (so the £75 loss would not have been covered the other week)

does not cover theft from an unattended vehicle. unless all approved devices secured..

does cover DWA, but excludes equine. (don't ask!) does cover DWA liability in the event of escape from accident or theft (same conditions as normal)

does cover injuries to third parties if the animals escape, but not damage to the animals themselves unless they escape as a result of an external accident, or theft (from an attended vehicle or one covered by approved security devices..)

does cover ireland and the EU, isle of mann and do on. Does cover ferries as long as i don't unload whilst on them..

its actually specific one off package that they have literally tailor made for me, based loosely on the animals in transit section covered under boarding kennels and catteries insurance policies.. being me, i am an awkward customer, so have a unique policy lol..

anyway.. costs me just under £500 a year.. thats on top of the insurance for the van, £200 a year, the tax - £200+ a year, the MOT, the tyres.. oil, anti freeze, van servicing.. there is also the cost of the mobile calls made to people, and texts sent...

if you are doing it, you find out all the hidden costs

ahh ok.. remembers who you are, or rather why you are asking..

i would guess we all do what we can to ensure that things like that do not get passed around.. i am not sure how well you could clean something like a car, in order to fully steralise it each time, especially when you are normally picking up more than one animal per run.. either that or coping it in the neck for quoting for one offs (!!!!)

its again something i was thinking about today.. i may be needing to get a double cage fitted into the van, for transport requirements of some things.. in which case i would also need to be able to fully steralise it in accordance with things like q'tine regs. i was thinking about, for now, painting out the inside, and lino-ing the floor.. which would make it easy to wipe down and mop out each time after use. would something like that be good enough for what you mean do you think? i can't see how we could do things like steam steralise fabrics and interiors after each trip, not without passing the cost on to you, the booker.

our vehicle is cleaned out everytime it is used, the transport tubs are cleaned and disinfected after every use and to be honest most of the reps we collect are already tubbed/boxed safely for their journey by the seller. we keep reps ourselves and totally understand the need to sanitise and quarentine, the last thing we would want is any of our own reps suffering from our negligence in handling sick or diseased reps from courier jobs
we take the upmost care to keep tubs and all equipment disinfected.

Now really - what exact bearing does this have on the thread?? And to be perfectly honest, if you are not interested in a reptile courier service and never would use it, why are you even interested in the answer to these questions, it strikes me that even if the reply were 'yes thoroughly disenfected' you might reply 'how thoroughly' or 'with what'.

It strikes me also that this has just turned into a place where reptilesrock can throw try and show off what he thinks is his superiority over everyone - (when really he is just showing off his immaturity and arrogance) and certain folk can run reptile couriers into the ground wherever possible.

At the end of the day - reptile couriers make very little money as they have said several times throughout the thread, (and obviously reptilerock knows better of course) and 'FACT' they provide a very valuable service to a great many people who wouldn't be able to own certain reptiles without their service.
The reptile courier service is obviously in great need otherwise this thread wouldn't have been started.

Reptilesrock - you know nothing about the person who's education you brought into question, and if you were as highly educated as you would like to make out, you would never have brought such a thing into question. Perhaps this conversation would be better taking place when you have a little more maturity as I personally have been horrified the way you have conducted yourself throughout this thread, only as I say reflecting on the level of your own maturity.

whos education was he questioning???

(or am i being thick asking..i really can't be arsed to read his posts again.. it'll be the same once qualified... he'll have to make people pay to read his letters then tho lol lol lol)

are we flashing our degrees about, what ho, jolly good fun chaps, i'll pile in then shall i

i grew out of uni in 1996 with BSc joint honours zoology and geology..

comes in handy for the all times you spend stationary on motorways, you can identify the animals AND the rocks around you..

tho.. some Rocks.. are not as nice as others..

sedimentry ones, now they are interesting... fun to be able to think about what happened back in ancient time, whilst sat on a modern motorway.. you get into shit if you stop and look for fossils tho.. something about pedestrians on motorways really makes the police twitchy..

sorry.. where were we again?? oh yes..
