Ahaha! That told him! This is exactly what happens in our house, I got the OH into snakes, now he sees one he wants, we get it and I have to clean up the poo and feed them! He is currently hankering after a False Water Cobra and although I think they're ok, I'm not overly keen on them myself and since I'd most likely be the one to cop a venomous bite, foot is still firmly down.

Hognoses, are Rear Fanged mildly venomous.... they have grooved teeth in the back of there mouth, and can release small amounts of venom, if the snake chews its victim, people can react differently to the affects of there venom... some people can laugh it off, and not feel a thing, but others can have there whole arm swollen etc...

hope this helps

Just because your other half is allergic to a bee sting doesn't mean she'll be allergic to a hognose bite, but I know what you mean, my wife stayed away from my hoggies for the same reason. As for GTP, there's a whole lot of reasons there why you don't want to get bitten !

Gtp's are display snakes. They should not be bought under the pretence that you'll handle them regularly in an attempt to "tame" them (especially if we're talking about snakes less than 1 year old!). I've said it many times before, but when you view chondros in the context of display snakes that shouldn't be handled without good reason (wanting to hold it is not a good reason) then the whole issue of "snappiness" really isn't that much of an issue and shouldn't be a major factor in deciding whether or not you wish to become a gtp owner.

Green Tree Pythons have been breeding and eggs were laid on 10th April 2008. PM me if you'd be interested in a hatchling.

Leopard Gecko (Sunglow) eggs are in the incubator.
