But the point is you shouldn't be handling a gtp so "snappiness" is largely irrelevant. You've got more chance of being bitten by a regularly handled corn or royal than you have by a gtp that you don't handle. Thats because you give the corn and royal a lot more opportunity to bite you!

I'm not trying to argue about whether or not you should get a gtp as that decision is nothing to do with me, all I'm saying is that you should decide based on legitimate reasons. If you keep a gtp as a display snake, don't handle it, and don't clean it out after night fall then its aggressiveness is not really relevant in the way you're suggesting it is. Agressiveness only becomes an issue if you want a snake you can handle, and if you do then a chondro is probably best avoided. If you don't want to handle it, then snappiness is neither here nor there!

and I am not allowed a hognose as OH is allergic to bee's and dont want to risk a hognose bite.[/quote]

I've had my hognose for 2 and a half years now, and he's never once made a serious attempt to bite me.
He bluffs like mad but once you pick him up he immediately stops,

Males tend to be fairly small with a small mouth, so there pretty limited as to where they can catch you bearing in mind that there rear fanged, and then take into account you've got to let them chew any toxins into you.

The risks are fairly small of any serious incident occuring with a hognose even if you are allergic to there venom.

I would take on your OH again and try to convince her on a hognose.
If she remains concerned tell her not to handle it,it's not as though they hunt you down in the dead of night

Get a hoggie there great

you say that but im the one that looks after the snakes as he works long hours and doesnt see them/handle them/clean them out/feed them (which has happened with 3 corns now!!) so its actually down to me! I also have a problem with my immune system so its just not worth risking it!
