Default GTP Venomous?

I have wanted a GTP since I first saw a picture of one, but OH has told me I cant have one because they have a mild venom and are very snappy.

I just took her word for it as she is the snake person....

But I just want to clarify that they do have venom and can be quite snappy.... true or false?

and I know if she is right there will be a 'ha! I told you so' somewhere in this thread....

Not venomous, but can be bitey and with serious teeth to back it up! Beautiful animal, I can't wait to get one, but currently immersed in The Complete Chondro - excellent book, picked up a copy on Amazon at a reasonable price, everything you could want to know about chondros. Get your OH a copy, he may fall in love with this species too!

No venom buddy, but you really need to be an experienced keeper/handler to keep them.

Check these bad boys out:

The lower teeth are just as big, you can see them in the sheath.

Ok, not so sure now.... think ill get bit by a corn or royal before I consider getting a GTP.

I have been very lucky so far, never been bitten, but my OH has a tendency to get bit, and I am not allowed a hognose as OH is allergic to bee's and dont want to risk a hognose bite.

Good choice!

Something to look forward to in the future though.

A bite from one of these fellas really would smart.

I dont want a snake at my house that I dont want because I look after our 6 snakes (some are yours) so I'd be the one who handles it/feeds it etc etc so just accept you're not having one unless you look after it yourself and not fob it off on me like you did your rabbit
