Default red lights for snakes

I hear lot of people and see people using red lamps for snakes. Apparanetly snakes and other reptiles can't sense this and that it doesn't disturb sleep pattern etc. I had a talk with a friend of mine who was mentioning that the snakes retina differs from lizards in that some species have cones such as cobras other have rods such as a lot of nocturnal snakes and some such as boas have both. He also said alot of stuff about the morphology and anatomy of the neurology i didn't understand.

So red lights are suggested by a lot of people to use at night because they can't see it. Apparently Neural morphology and physiology suggests otherwise.

What do you guys think

Smile lights

Yeah sure the red lights look appeasing and obviously do the job, but all my animals with exeption of my tegu are on white spots. I heard about not using them because the snakes can sense the humming of the bulb???? Never had any problems though and everyone seems happy. Do what works for you m8 i dont think there is any evidence to suggest that red is better than white, but im sure some one will correct me if im wrong!

Doesn't make that much difference as far as I'm aware, the only reason mine are all on red is because it matches the colours in my room lol. I heard something about a certain type of tort needing red until its about 5 years old for growth or something like that : /
