Default Help me choose 1st snake...

Yeah, so basically, I want to buy a snake BUT it will be my first snake, and after heavy negotiations with mom, I agreed that it will not be a corn snake. Money is not an issue in terms of the vivarium/equipment etc, but i don't want to spend more than 300ish on the snake itself... The snake also cannot be bigger than say 5-6 feet wen its old. To sum up it has to:
-not be a corn
-not longer than 6feet
-relatively easy to care for
-good looking (wow factor XD)
so i'm thinking ball python?
Please help!

Royals are great but they can be very fussy feeders so IMO not a good starter snake, maybe king, milk snake ??

hang on there u havnt conidered teh good points f corns. they are cheap 2 buy (from about £15 from private sellers) and although some can get to 6 foot i dont think its really common. other snakes apart from corns, even tho they are a perfect starter snake, are milks which some only get to 3/4 foot like mine ( a sinaloan milksnake). also i dont think garter snakes get very big but they are very quick. as a first snake i duno if a python is a good idea, but i suppose it differs for people. Corns are jsut generally easy to care for, are cheap and come in 100s of colours.

but thats just my personal opinion

i have to agree about corns def a perfect starter! asides from them i would say a king snake too, i have just brought home a baby royal after having 6 corns and im so panicky she refused her last feed and is def a lot more difficult then the easy going, eat what their offered and love handling personalitys of corns!
