As long as you're prepared for a snake that MIGHT not be handleable because it stops feeding if you get it out.

I'm saying you have just as good a chance of getting one of the royals that will stop eating if you handle it as you have of getting a royal who will eat consistently and without hesitation in SPITE of being handled.
Royal pythons are shy snakes, fairly nervous, and in my experience of them are VERY easy to put off their food. Disturbing them by handling them (no snake definitely 'likes' it - some snakes tolerate it better than others) can make them so nervous they won't eat at all. If you want a snake that is unlikely to go off food JUST because you're handling it then a dwarf boa is probably a lot better for you than a royal.
