If you want a big, chunky colubrid, you want a Pituophis, one of the North American pine/gopher/bullsnake complex. They are big tough guys, but their bark is worse than their bite. Husbandry is the same as a rat snake of the same size.

My albino black rat male is quite big and chunky - about 6 1/2 ft and weighed 2328g back in January. He has a medium rat every 2 weeks, and is also one of my two dustbins for leftovers. Mind you, my northern pine x bull is catching up at 6ft and 1844g, and he is only just coming up 3 yrs old, so maybe he will overtake him eventually. He is my other dustbin!

If you really want a big chunky rat then the taiwan and blue beauties are the way forward.....record size for a taiwan is 11.5ft!!!!!!!!!! Quite often they'll range from 7-9ft (although 99% of caresheets say they only grow to 6ft lol).

I agree with whoever mentioned Pituophis group though (Bullsnakes, Pines and Gophers) as they're similar to what you're looking for and easy to keep.

This one although a morph will give you an idea of size that Bullsnakes can reach

Their defensive display is something else, mostly bluff though - I've never heard any snake hiss louder than them!

Blues are harder but Taiwans are just as easy as the yanks.

I was under the impression that they didnt tolerate handling to much?
Blues don't but Taiwans are usually fine... to a point. They tend to get irritable if they get too hot. My male used to be the spawn of satan apparently.

I would have said 8-9 feet for females and 6-7 feet for males for Taiwans ( Don't know for blues ) but there are, of course, exceptions
