Oh the other thing to be wary of is rear fangs that aren't commonly kept. Commonly kept ones have usually bitten enough people to get a fair idea of the normal venom effects. Less common species haven't had this. Some because they don't tend to bite, some just because not many keep them and let them bite.
As an instance, I have a trio of Egyptian racers, generally thought to be a fairly mild, if even noticeable venom. Bites from them on my friends have resulted in profuse bleeding, with even a possibility of kidney failure. This from a snake with the head width of approx 8mm. When one friend was chewed upon on his little finger for a few seconds, we then put it back and sorted out some adult mangroves. After all this I noticed both hands were covered in blood, thought a mangrove had grabbed him and chewed, turned out to be my tiny little racer.
As a general rule you shouldn't get a ETB or GTP for handling, some will be ok to free handle but don't ever count on it. Also once you've seen the teeth on either of these you may well change you mind. Plus as they tend to be ambush hunters then some people find them boring. Personally I would rather have a picture in the viv, it'd be a lot cheaper and just as interesting. LOL
