Mine often won't eat until they've shed but it certainly doesn't hurt to offer a day or too later, they will sometimes take it.. it depends too on when they last ate and what their appetite is like, or how quickly they go blue after laying. I usually go with a rat fluff or something a bit smaller.

I always offer a small mouse after I have taken the eggs away as I think that after all that effort they need a bit of food inside them to regain some energy. If they don't eat it fine but they usually do. If it is more than 2 days later they don't as they are already in the shed cycle.
