I think it was true that they just couldn't be bothered to hatch them, themselves. Its seems strange to me too but I wasn't going to argue! The deal was if she hadn't laid the eggs by the time she came home they would be mine but if she laid whilst still in the shop they would keep them.

Needless to say I got her there and then! They did say though that they will buy as many of the babies off me as possible
