Default Yay Royal-ness

Well after the crappy time we've been having lately with the geckos, I've been much more interested in my snakes. And thanks to Ssthisto and Oni I got the "royal" bug.

So I got into planning what I'd like to produce x number of years down the line and what I'd need to make it etc. Initial plans included buying a normal female and a morph'd male, to generate a bit of help with buying the morph'd females. Cause you know I couldn't pick the cheap ones, oh no.

So there I was in my local, playing with itty bitty Red Tegus (the cuteness!) when I turned and asked "Don't suppose you get any adult female royals in do you?". To which the reply was "How big are you after?".

Well I was just initially thinking over 1000g then she'd have time to grow on whilst I picked up an 08 male later this year. I said as such and was told "Well we have a 6 year old over 2500g female in right now. Shes not up for sale but we'd sell her to you. And oh, shes probably gravid. Shes been seen mating with the normal male but the pastel did spend 3 days with her".

Oh boy. It was at this point I was suffering from excitement and apprehension. I mean, how much would they be wanting for this stunner, (and she was! Shes about 2inches off 5 foot!)? So we got her out and shes lovely. Big placid lady, just about to go into what I assume is her pre-lay shed and actually weighing in at about 2750g. Little voices start singing in my head "Buy her! Buy her now!". But I hold off until I hear the price. Then the voices start screaming at me "BUY HER"!

Still it wasn't exactly pocket change and since its towards the end of the month funds weren't at their best so I said I'd give them an answer by the end of the weekend (this was yesterday afternoon). I came home and rang Ssthisto and discussed things with her (got to love my reptile guru!).

Then...I went back and bought her today! I have to say a huge thanks to Ssthisto at this point as Nigera is currently lodging at hers until shes laid. After which she shall be coming here to mine.

Yep plans are moving now. I'll post some pictures up when shes settled in (and Ssthisto emails them to me!)

as its a shop i would recon it would be harder to sell to joe public and prob wouldn't want the hastle of hatching eggs so i would recon towards the lower end of the price scale

most shops do breed there own stock, so if they got a gravid snakes it will be beneficial to them to keep the eggs and incubate them as at end of day if they got 4-6 eggs n they all hatch n sell em for 50-80 quid thats 200 - 500 quid for the shop.
