I've never been bitten (yet) although my garter while she was pregnant did have a good go at getting her jaws around my fingers but failed cos I held her away.
What did you all do that provoked your snakes into biting you ? If we're here to learn from people's mistakes, I'd like to know what not to do to certain snakes if you don't want to experience their teeth !

well well we have someone with a sensible question at last instead of a judgement. my surinam bit me because i was trying to get her back into her viv and as she tried to vanish half way down my back i leaned forward to try and get her back up to my head which was now right by the opening to her viv and as she came back over she must of seen me as a threat in her home. this is the first time in her 4 1/2 years of age that she has done this. she never struck out when gaz had her so its a little lesson for me

i had a similar incident last night, thought my dumerils was awake, but he obviously wasnt, i went to get his water bowl, but touched him by accident, bloody hell the size of them jaws coming towards you is scary!! luckily he saw it was me and didnt bite bloody hell it scared the living crap out of me! but was my own fault really, as soon as he saw it was me and wasnt a threat he was fine,

I just wasnted to say, thanks for a great thread!

I logged on tonight as, after owning my snakes for a year, for some reason I have become scared of handling them in case I was bitten - Asali looked at me strangely the other day and it has really worried me (yes, I'm a wimp ). I was going to post a question about it, but after having read this thread, I can see that most bites aren't really a problem (and as my guys are corns, I really have no need to be worried). So thank you, I am going to go to handle them tomorrow feeling a lot more confident.
