Default ATB shed probs

I'm sure this a basic question, but it's got me stumped. My ATB has been with me a couple of months and this is the second partial shed she has had. As you can imagine, bathing and peeling her gets a bit "acupuncturey".

I just can't understand why... her viv is humidity cycled from about 55% - 80-90% daily and she has a moist hide in there constantly too. The shop mentioned she was a problem-shedder, but I assumed that it was maybe their husbandry that was causing it.

Can a snake be a 'problem-shedder' regardless of pre-shed humidity, or am I missing something? Is this common in ATB's?

Thanks all.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I guess the humid hide is slightly overkill, I guess I'm being overly cautious.

I'm not sure why she's having these problems shedding. I would have thought that daily peaks of 90% humidity which gradually drops over the next several hours would be sufficient.

I was thinking maybe the exo terra dial humidity guage was perhaps not accurate enough or somthing? I'm just not sure how much more humidity I can provide without risking mould or respiritory problems. Any more ideas?

the exo terra humidity guages are crap - get a digital one.

I dont know enough about your set up to know what you need to change

there are loads of ways to increase humidity but first you could do with knowing if it needs changing

and yes snakes can have bad sheds and sometimes several in succession and then be ok and sometimes allways have bad sheds.

Ta again for the response. I'll get hold of a digi humidity guage and make sure the readings are accurate then. Good suggestion.

I was also wondering if young ATB's skin is especially thin compared corns/royals and whether this is a factor. I know I've heard something similar about white-lips. Just a thought..

cheers
