Heh heh... I just re-read that post and it did sound a bit more standoffish than I intended... but I think you got my point and I didn't really think you meant that seriously.

It was just an ice-breaker, honest

And actually, I was hoping you wouldn't go on to bring up the whole "humans are the fittest animals" bit cause if you look at it that way, then yeah, it's obvious we'd change the world entirely (not that we haven't already) to suit ourselves, in that sense we're the most successful "animals" of all...

I often wonder (and I know others do too) if we haven't stopped "evolving" (or at least slowed our physical evolution down). We've changed so much of the world to suit us that we've removed the whole "natural selection" factor from our lives.

i think to be honest humans are disgusting creatures, how many of us would survive if the technological world that we know broke down?
could we really go back to living off the land?
im not so sure that everyone would make it. people have adjusted the world and made decisions for the themselves and the natural world be damned, and humankind is still deciding what is best for animals in the sense that they decide who should live and who should die.

we are the opposite of evolution. we are backtracking. this may come out really bad, but people that would normally not survive, such as people with a form of dwarfism, do. they are able to reproduce. the whole survival of the fittest does not exist. i think that is alot of the reason that there are alot of genetic diseases around.

obviously that is the world we live in, i appreciate what i just said is extremely - cant think of the word - but that is my viewpoint - scientifically. i am not in any way saying that people should be culled or anything rediculous - its in our nature to make the race survive, but when you thing about it that is the situation

I know what you are trying to say. People born with genetic defects probably wouldn't survive in the wild. That's one of the pros of a modern society.

(My Aunt has Downe's Syndrome).

Downs syndrome is one of the anomalies of disabilities, most people with downs syndrome have a far greater IQ than they are given credit for they just dont express it in the way most people would, they also have extreme strength due to the fact that they dont have the same safety limit all (please excuse the term, i dont mean offense by this) normal healthy people have on their bodies.

Don't I know it... my Aunt can get cranky! (Although she's much more well behaved than she used to be).

yea - its difficult to phrase without possibly causing offense, and is a touchy subject. i tend to look at this from a scientific viewpoint.

very many people tend to tip toe around the subject, ignore it or phrase it in a way that is totally offensive.
i try to find a path that is open and honest without causing offense, to me that is very hard but if i had completely ignored what had been said about downs syndrome that would have been a worse thing to do
