Well it looks like the fact that he was quite calm on Fiday was a bit of a fluke. As soon as I walked in the room today he struck at the tub. I'll try and handle him later but something is definately upsetting him

When I got him he was on a Jumbo MOuse once a week, He is still once a week but now a small rat so it's only the next size up. My Falsie is on 2 of the same a week and my Royal on one about every ten days so I cant really see as i'm overfeeding him

Is he definitely a "he"?
Anyway, as for the aggresiveness, just persevere, young burms like to think they are in charge and if they get what they want via hissing and striking i.e. being left alone. They will continue to do this throughout their lives and you don't want a huge snake striking you. While he is still young just ignore everything he does and continue to handle him, even wear gloves etc till you feel he will allow you to pick him up. Also, it is advisable to hook train larger snakes, which reminds me I haven't started to try mine with a hook yet ![]() At the moment I use my girls snake bag to get her out, place the bag over her head and she allows me to scoop her up with the other hand while her head is covered then once out daft as a puppy. ![]()

I suppose he could be a she, I havent had him properly sexed but Viper and Vine were pretty sure he's a male, I know that's not exactly the most accurate so you could be right.
I am hook training "him" as best I can and I'll just keep going as you suggest. Thanks NIge

How often are you getting him out? How are you doing it and how many days do you leave in between each feed i.e feed him saturday and then again next saturday.
He might have assosciated the viv opening as food time, or he might have sensed that your hesitant about getting him out. I know of a few that get nervous when a viv is opened so what I've learnt to do with those guys are to just move some things in the viv, like the bedding or the water bowl. The snake then comes out to see whats going on, goes up to the persons hand gives it a smell and then relaxes and lets me take it out.

I get him out every day except feed day and the 2 days after as he is completely untouchable then. I feed him every Friday. I usually tap him with the hook then hook him and then lift him out. TBH wat you suggest will undoubtedly finish up with a bite! If I put my hand him before hooking him he goes for me straight away
