Default First timer - Costal Carpet Python

I've been lurking about, and people have said to start with a corn snake, I just don't fancy one as much as I would a CCP.
How hard are they exactly for somebody with NO experience with snakes.

I DO plan on doing a LOT of research before going in for the kill tho'

Thanks,
Kris

EDIT: Yes I know I misspelt it. Its coastal carpet python =]

not too hard really ,just do your resrach have setup ready and prepared before getting snake ,just be prepared for loads of bites if you get a young one but dont worry the bites dont hurt at all ,they soon calm down with handling and tehy are great semi arboreal species females hit 8-10ft males 6-8ft very slender compared to say a BCI but still musculer and a very beautifull snake ........pretty easy to care for adults require a 4x2x2 but 4x3x2 is better ,give em summit to perch on as they are just as happy of the ground as they on ,when young house em in small tub or viv tub=heated by mat on stat ,viv heate dby red light or ceramic on stat

theres some basic info for ya just keep researching and you will get there

With the right research and the right snake, I don't see a problem. You should get a snake you want, not what others "think" you should have . If you get a baby, be prepared to get nipped tho

Agreed. With the right attitude and prep you will be ok.

Im in Northern Ireland, so be hard to find somebody selling on this site

EDIT: Anyone know any sites where I can get like 4x3x2 vivs.
Also, just any small tub for when its young?#
And another thing, lol, the small tub probably last about how long? 6 months say?

Default food

Just try and get them on rats as quickly as possible as they can be hard to change over later on. You don't want a 6ft+ snake only taking mice as its really expensive. Temperament varies. I have one that I only handle with gloves and others that are fine. You do have to pick and choose when you pick them up but this you will learn from keeping them and watching their body language. Best buy a small young one that you can spend time getting used to you. My agressive one was bought as an adult and no matter what I do, is an agressive biting snake. If you can afford one and you like them, I rewcommend Bredls. They are easy to handle, fantastic feeders and are always sat on display. Or at least my ones are.

Thanks everyone =]

Just a question to everyone tho.
Where do you keep yours?
4x3x2 is one hell of a huge area of space.
