Default king snake genetics

does anyone know a decent site or can answer this question i have.

I have a bananna californian king and i want to put it to a dot dash cali king. My question is how would the young turn out, and which gene is codominant or recessive??

Many thanks

Well you should get a few bananas more abberant bananas and some normals, the banana pattern trait usually holds quite strong.

what did your dot dash come from, any pics ?.

Right i see thanks very much. Well i haven't got a dot dash currently i was hoping i might possibly come across a male in the barking show, as my other is a female. That's very interesting i didn't realise i would get some normals as well. But i have struggled to find any quality breeding informatin on kings and genetics hence the post.

Thank you very much.

Can i ask why you are going for a dot dash and not another banana or abberant banana.

Paul.

its normally abberants, i didnt get any bannana's out of my clutch which was the exact smae pairing.

to get all bannanas you need to breed bannana to bannana, but to get mainly bannanas and some abberants you cross an abberant to a bannana. abberants hold the bannana giene, so when bred to another abberant or bannana you will see some visual bannana's.

Abberants hold the banana gene ?

an abberent is a normal but abberant, an abberant banana has the trait.

dot dash is just abberant strip and band.

well i wanted a dot dash thinking i might be able to have some hatchlings of dot dash also. But if thats not the case then i suppose it wouldn't matter if i got a aberrant banana or a striped banana to produce the visuals

Sure, you may get some dot dash sibs with that mix, just as you can get them from 2 normal stripers or normal banded, its just an abberency.

so if the mix throws out more normals then some could be dot dash.

the banana trait can be quite confusing, and you can get bananas in an f1 state from banana to normal. some people will say its just another type of abberancy some will say its a true pattern type.

our studys have shown the banana trait to carry very nicely, and like i said , it can effect the pattern in an f1 ( first generation ) state.

Paul.
