Smile temps!!!

My thermostat for my corn snake is a mat stat. When the temp gets to 29c (85F) then it turns of but it doesn't turn on until the temp gets down to 23c its only at 23 for 10 mins is that okay.
By the way the sensor is in the correct place, lying on the substate.

Yeah, being a bit cool for a little while won't do half the damage being overheated can do, most stats do it - nothing really to worry about.

I've never had a mat drop in temperature that much and that quickly. I've not seen mine drop more than a degree before the stat kicks in an starts heating the mat up again.

Where are your stat probe/thermometer placed?

I told you where the probe is on the original thread.

Blind me

Is the thermometer probe in the same place? Just odd how you're getting a drop of 6 degrees in the space of 10 minutes, mats normally hold heat quite well for longer than that when they've been heated up that much.

Think he meant after about 10 minutes the thermostat comes back on, so the mat is only 23c for 10 minutes!

I'm so out of it today

Okay well then it's odd that your stat reads a temp of 23C for 10 minutes before kicking in again. It should start heating the mat up again as soon as it recognises that the temp is below what the stat is set to and i'd imagine it should do that before it's dropped 6C.
