Default To early to breed?

Hi just a question i have a early cb 06 female corn snake and currently she is 320gms in weight and 33 inches. If i gave her a few more good feeds would it be too risky? to try breeding her with my male this year?

thanks in advanced

Ideally she should be all the 3's. 3 years, 3 foot, 300g. Shes an ok weight to breed, so should be ok, although as its getting a bit later in the season now, id be tempted to leave her until next year. Some people will prob completely disagree but hey!

Thanks for that mate. I know it should be all the three's but it's just so damn close and she's such a healthy girl im incredibly tempted to put her with my male. Might give her a couple more feeds till nexst shed and give it a try.

Another quick question does the rule of three actually apply to males? if not what sort of requirements needs to be met before he is ready to breed?

Not as much. They will happily breed as soon as they are mature enough too

Although she's close to having all the three's, it can be quite a atrain on a female and they will often lose quite a bit of weight, so prob best to wait until she's comfortably over rathe rthen just.

You may also find they've lost interest by now anyway. Better to get her well up to weight for next year.

Your female should breed no problems, assuming the interest is still there. The rule of three is only a guide and, as has been stated before by many people, the rule of three doesn't exist in the wild. wild females do not carry around scales to weigh themselves before letting the male mate, nor do they say come back next year because I'm too young or too short.

If you think she's big enough and healthy enough go for it.
