i think you are right, people just dont like reptiles because they are uneducated about them, but the best way to get round this would be for more people to keep them so that they are more commonly know as 'pets'. the other issue is that because they are kept in such specific conditions some people who keep reptiles don't know how to look after them properly resulting in cruelty. i think it would be a good idea for pet shops to have to ask more questions before selling an animal and give more accurate information about that animal then this type of cruelty would be prevented. in terms of it being illegal to keep them at all they wouldn't be able to do it because what would happen to all the reptiles that are already being kept? they wont be able to stop people breeding keeping them or even breeding them.

What makes me laugh is it is the animal rights groups that try and stop the keeping of reptiles yet what happens to all our current pets once the law is enforced? They are all taken away and culled? That's something they should be proud of then, being responsible for the deaths of thousands of animals, really works to their beliefs. Strange Folk.
