A bit won't cause any harm, many big royal breeders and other species breeders keep snakes on aspen and feed in tub and if they thought it would be too dangerous i doubt they would. I feed on aspen and not much if any ever gets swallowed but being soft and fibrous it soon breaks down, so long as it's not a whole mouthfull every feed i can't see any problems.

Unless she's eaten a lot then i wouldn't worry. Keep an eye out and check her poo, see what comes out.

If you are getting concerned feed her a chick, it's kinda like the human equivelant of prunes and will help "clear out" the digestive tract.

is it anything like breeders choice (some sort of cat litter some people use as substrate)?

oh wow, never seen people use anything like that in tanks before

best thing is just plain newspaper dont have to worry about them eating anything and its easy to clean and comfortable for them

breeders choice is a nightmare people who use it are just asking for bad things to happen to there reps the amount of times i have seen threads with people freaking out saying there snake or beardy etc has accidently eaten it and now its turned to clay in there guts is just horrible dont no why people use it
do people use anything like that over there?

I use aspen for all my snakes (my hoggy especially loves to burrow in it) - but I always put a couple of newspaper sheets over the top on feeding day to completely cover it. The snakes have gotten the drill now and tend to be out hunting more actively once the newspaper goes down

newspaper is very handy, clean and cheap, and totaly safe, but aspen and auboise (hemp bedding) are great for snakes that like a bit of burrowing or excavating, safe aswell. Also it soaks up snakes feces and urates, so easy to spot clean with tissue.

aye but plain newspaper isn't exactly good for those who want a ''naturalistic'' looking set up, granted royals or whatever don't live on aspen in the wild, but it certainly looks better than newspaper! I've never used newspaper, but kitchen roll is basically the same thing and I only use it for QT, young snakes and if they're ill or have mites or something.

never heard of that other stuff though, sounds like a big version of our calci-sand (which is NOT popular).
