I don't know if you saw it on the news where you guys are...but a few weeks ago a friend of mine was bitten by a baby death adder..he needed no anti-venom and was out of hospital the next day...Mind you the media made a circus of it all...Any elapid is potentially dangerous..I have heard of deaths from rbbs adders etc..just because there are no recorded deaths by the fierce snake doesn't mean they are not the deadliest

ah right I see what you mean, you have to be pretty unlucky for a snake to get a direct hit on a vein or artery fortunately, although it does happen, I know Bill Haast accidently injected venom directly into a vein I think it was Micrurus sp if I remember correctly.

ibites, No denying they are deadly, but just because they are deadliest on LD50 doesnt nessesarily mean they are going to be deadliest to humans.

I rememeber reading this a while ago on Dr Frys site, interesting article.

and oh my god, thank god someone has some sense at last. does my head in when people say that the most DEADLY snake in the world is the one that just bit you!
I am no expert on the matter but as far as i was aware. the fierce snake is the most lethal on the LD50 tests, and the saw scaled viper is the biggest killer due to its large geographical range, small size, good camouflage and willingness to defend itself by biting!

Aye mate it was a coastal. It happened in a small town near Cairns.
