Glad to see that the myths about their being 'rear-fanged' and 'illegal to keep' have been dispelled by previous posts- complete nonsense both of them.
The other myth is that they are hard to keep - I don't know where this comes from, presumably from people who have no experience of having tried to keep them. In my experience they tame down very quickly and will feed from the hand in a matter of weeks. You may debate the ethics of catching frogs from the wild to feed them, and although they will readily take fish there are problems in the long-term with an all-fish diet. In previous threads people have mentioned success with weaning them onto defrost mice. I don't see that this would be a problem if you scented them with frog or fish. Having said that, I wouldn't keep these in captivity myself any more - I'm quite happy to observe them in the wild. |

An adult's musk will absolutely stink your entire house, and stick to you even after a shower - and it is a bad smell. I relocated an adult about 2 weeks ago and the car stunk for days afterwards.
Best place to relocate is somewhere there is an abundance of wildlife, water, such as a pond or river (as they eat a lot of frogs, newts, etc), not too close to main roads or houses, plenty of cover for hiding, etc. They don't make great pets mostly because of the smell if you ask me!
