Hey guys and girls. I had my snake out today and noticed that strangely she wasnt flicking her tongue like usual, she seemed to sometimes flick it out long and lazily, slower than usual. it worried me. Also i noticed that the last few days i had her out, when i put her back in she slides into the hide im placing her near and never moves. This is for a good 12+ hour period, i very rarely in the last couple days see her moving about to swap warm/cold ends. Previously due to having her in this new viv i had to keep her in a rather small plastic viv due to moving. Could she be depressed? Do snakes get depressed?
Also something i have a concern about is that ive never seen my corn soak in her water bowl in her entire life. Do some snakes just not practise this behaviour or should i be changing something? Thx for replies |

The long and lazy tongue exposure is often a sign of annoyance.
It is simply picking up as much information about it's surroundings as possible. When my female Taiwanese Beauty snake does it... it's wise to stay the hell away from her. |

If she's shedding. eating and pooping well I wouldn't worry.

She may be coming up for shed like has been mentioned, also have you checked her over for mites? Snakes tend to soak and become annoyed when they have mites. Give her a check over or treatment just in case she does.
