Sometimes like this

but usually i feed hatchling/juveniles on paper towel, so as to avoid ingestion of substrate and with adults they get fed in their vivs. Substrate ingestion isn't a big factor when adult.

all the boas and the retic will floor feed, and happily strike feed. However, with them ending up as larger snakes, I prefer to floor feed them so that I dont end up with 8ft flying at the glass of the viv.

50% of the royals are strike feeders, 48% are leave feeders, 2% are assist feeders (guessing, not actually worked out the numbers.

All the corns, the hognoses and the rat snakes are just feeders (little pigs!)

The tree snakes are a whole barrel of fun.
The adult GTP will (now) eat however you offer it. First she didnt feed, then she'd strike feed, now you can just leave the mouse on a branch and she'll go find it.
The baby gtp will strike her food, constrict it, drop it, then go back for it later.
The emmy will strike, let go, strike again, then eat it.
and the mangrove will only eat if you leave the food on a branch, wont strike feed, wont floor feed, has to be left on a branch.

i grab the rat/mouse by the tail and dangle for ratsnake and boa, royal likes her food left on the viv floor then gets it later, no one has mentioned the grabbing by the tail approach ont he rat/mouse, kind of makes me feel it's bad practise???

Don't know, but I used to do it with my first corn, especially in spring when he wouldn't eat and I was trying to persuade him.

I think it's only considered bad practice, cos the snake can tag you instead of the mouse???

I feed mine in their vivs with tongs. I tap train the burm cos she'll need it and the White-lipped cos he can be a nasty b***d.

My ratsnake is only 5 foot and wouldn't bite anything other than the rat anyway and the boa is only 3 foot and a perfect striker lol, she could catch a fly off a pencil without fail. maybe when she's bigger i'll worry a bit more about getting tagged lol
