its not just hissing is it? my boas hiss as they are swallowing, especially if you get closer to them while they are trying to get on with it.

Nope, not hissing - the only way i can describe the noise is its similar to my nose at the moment as i have the onset of a cold. I can breath but i get 'clicky sounds a bubbles of snot burst in my nose!!!!! I am not however saying it is mucus in the snake - it could well be the fact that bones or breaking and its the mouse making the noises when thre snake is eating but at the mo, I just don't know!

Thanks, Ben

Anyone answer this bit?

RI's are all different, if you suspect it do 2 things, pick the snake up once food is digested and open it's mouth it should be clear, no bubbly slaiva/mucus in there, also put a bit of pressure on the chin with mouth closed and when released see if there's any swallowing motion or wheezing/clicking then? I've had an RI ongoing forever here but i've also had a snake be fine 1 day, get snotty next, die by that night before i could do anything although i do suspect other causes just nothing showed up on pm but anyhow...they all vary but as soon as you see signs act on them and if you're worried and unsure see a vet.

i can hear my snakes breathing sometimes they have like a tube they breath thru when there mouths are full, they had a big snake on telly once eating and it sounded like darth vader with a cold lol
also sometimes hear bones cracking and the strangest noise ever was a frozen mouse that squeeked as must have had air left in its lungs that got squeezed out when the snake was constricting it

is the noise only noticeable when it eats? With an RI, you would be able to hear it nearly all the time. If its just when it eats, i would hazard a guess its just a noisy eater!
