Have heard that the life cycle of mites - from eggs to mites is 90 days so incase any eggs are in the viv still you need to keep an eye out and keep disinfecting etc for this period of time. Apparently they can lay eggs in te silicone sealant in vivs. so keeping them in rubs for a while is better and leave the vivs for over 90 days till you are sure no more mites can hatch

Will be rubbing snake down with some spray from my local reptile shop as I don't want to make a mistake with fronline on him. Obviously I'll be doing the same with the other snake as well.

Any other tips would be good. (Will be rubbing them down with veg/olive oil as well)

Hi all,

If you are using frontline properly and a strict cleaning regimin, there is no need to use veg oil or olive oil.

Also read the sticky on mites.

We had mites no that long ago. We think the infestation came from a bag of susrate so I now freeze it for 24hours before it goes in the viv, the viv decorations get frozen as well, this kills of any eggs and mites that might be lurking about.
