if you use oil make sure you wash it off the next day at the latest. If left on it can damage the scales and cause bad sheds, though it is entirely effective on suffocating the mites on the snake's body.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Fingers crossed I've got on top of this now. Will continue cleaning everything every couple of days for the next few weeks to make sure they are gone for good.
