Default Has anyone owned yellow anacondas

Has anyone owned yellow anacondas before and can tell me what there like, Temprement etc. I know they have a bad rep for being aggressive and wondered how true that was because people say green anacondas are supposed to be bite all the time but in my experience there quite placid. Thanks

i now a few people which have had these and they where a complete dream! hissy when young like every thing but with regular handling (like anything) they will become holdable! i personly like yellows and am thinking of one for the future. ignore all this bad steriotype of evil anaconda as in my experience its all down to a few keepers not knowing what they are ding and making the snake pissed off and angry with bad husbandry! all snakes are what you make of them and if you put in your hours with them they will be a joy!

Cheers, I thought they probably wouldnt be bad. It gets to me when people say typical temprement for retics and things because typical retic temp for me is calm placid animals.

Captive breeding is the key here, same as it was with Retics.Any long term keeper will remember what the wild caught retics of the past were like,a reputation of the devil, but with captive breeding they are now some of the most reliable of the large snakes to keep.Find a CB baby and handle a lot.And take pics for us!

i had a yellow for about 5 years, and was perfect in temprement with me, but wouldnt stand anyone else near it, it would hiss and strike at them, but i could get t out of the viv and handle it fine, think it knew the phase dont bite the hand that feeds you, fanastic eater, would eat anything and everything, rats, rabbit, hamster, quail, anything, only issue i had how messy it was, would defectae daily in its large bowl then swim round in it,( quite smelly), trash its viv daily so
quite high maintanence snake, but well worth it,
