Default help with info sheet for a class of 8 yr olds

iv been asked by my childs teacher to take some of my snakes in to show a class of 8 year olds. their doing a topic on plants and animals. id like to give them some basic info on snake care to put with the rest of the work they have done. the thing is, although iv had reps for a few years, my mind has gone blank on how to put it over to young kids in a way they can understand, as well as what to put.
i know it sounds dumb, but could anyone help. my mind seems to have gone to mush.

take them through the basic knowledge for each section:heating, lighting, food requirements, etc

will help structure it!

It's a great idea hun. As you know my school use me as the local 'Pet woman' cause they would have to pay for someone to come and do a talk. Now it's 'oooooooh Alex and Beren's mum can!' lol

just one thing... think like an 8 yr old.. think of the things that make them excited.. take some shed skins with u, make them disinfect their hands if thy wanna touch.. and kids love to touch.. and they prolly think snakes r slimy.. cos thats wot they have heard..

try not to be too .. technical.... .. they will just switch off.. .. take a set-up,.. so they can see how they are housed..

remember.. color, pictures and the senses touch, feel, smell, sight.. those are the ones that work best for youngsters..

u cud also make up a sheet that shows the parts of a snake, head.. all the things in its mouth, teeth, tongue ect, neck body and tail..

sorry.. am i waffling.. lol.. just im a teacher and understand how kids think.. besides being a kid myself..

but if u want any other ideas.. (hopes i havent put u off) let me know..

btw.. good luck.. kids r ruthless..

ive looked after children for many years, i personally would take it down the route of how simular animals are to humans,

ie - we both need food/water to grow............
we both need a nice home, with comforts............
we need to feel safe.........................
we like being with our friends, but snakes actually like to be on their own.........
explain that dust is humans skin as it comes off in tiny pieces as we grow etc, then explain and maybe show if u have one a shedded skin.........
maybe make a sheet up of how to make a sock snake, for them to try to make at home ??
Ask what other animals they have at home ?

just an idea, i find the more of a topic u have the easier it is to make a lesson plan........

Good luck xxx
