are usually much smaller than females.

i believe Jesus Rivas has captured a 27 foot specimen - and the ability is there for these snakes to get larger

Thank you very much

I gotta say I agree,I saw a documentary very recently where Jesus Rivas said the largest Anaconda he had ever seen was 19ft,over 250lbs and female.

will give you the accurate data, locality and sex of the large males in the next few days - currently on the phone and chatting about it

I`m sure you expected the usual anecdotal posts?
I think you are closer to the truth with your guesstimate of eventual size, though of course it could get larger .
I think the 20 foot specimin that carpy talks about is probably a rarity.
Though.....bear in mind that captive snakes can grow larger than their wild counterparts so recent size records taken off wild snakes can be misleading.

Blimey i`m waffling and arguing with myself now

Nice snake by the way and i think the bad attitude is more down the fact it is shedding.

Good luck its nice to own something you`ve always wanted.

spot on post darwengray - im not saying it will get to 20 foot - and indeed a male of this size is a rarity - but the information given (i.e it will max out at 12 foot) is incorrect as they can and do get larger than that - and even males have the ability go grow over 20 foot

I think we could go on for ever about this couldn't we Carpy?
How about we agree to disagree tonight. I'm very happy with my new snake and you know about the ones you've seen.
I still think i'm am closer to the real maximum size of a male but i'm sure you think otherwise. seeing as neither of us can prove it, lets leave it at that eh?
Life is very short

you may well be closer to the likely maximum size of a male, but males have the ability to get larger. i am currently speaking to someone, and will hopefully get collection data of the larger males
