My IJ can be a bit funny at times, some times she will take and eat others she will take and constrict but not eat, then take it when offered the next night. As long as she eats a couple off times a month I don't get too worried. I've tried rats and mice heated with a hair dryer and allsorts, she just eats when she wants and is fine.

My IJ's are exactly the same, they express initial interest, but if I don't get a strike and a coil almost immediately its a given they won't eat it, even if left with it overnight. I leave them till the following week and they always feed. They know when they're hungry and only eat when they want to! They are the least greedy out of all my snakes, the BRB's will shove a meal down at every offering, but IJ's seem a bit pickier. Mine prefer their food hot too!! They are highly unimpressed if offered a luke warm meal. They're very particular.

IJ's are the iffiest of all the carpets in my experience when it comes to feeding. Dont worry too much about the odd missed meal. One thing i will say is try not too encourage strike feeding in carpets.. you'l have your hands full when she's fully grown one of my coastals got me only last night!! Hurts too lol. just leave the mouse over night and it should hopefully dissapear....

I keep various python species...Bredl's, Jag Carpets, Retics, and some particularly fussy feeding Dwarf Burmese. I defrost my rats and mice in plastic zip seal bags. I'll defrost them on a heat mat until their nice and warm...but be careful because if you leave them too long the gut will burst so make sure you don't forget to check on them. I find defrosting in water removes some of the scent. The plastic bags keep the scent on the prey and warmed up gives a nice heat source that will normally even get picky feeders to strike feed.

My coastal can be well fussy! he has scarring on his lungs from an RI, which is obviously gonna affect him. He will refuse one night and then the next night he will give me a feeding response bite while I change his water. I think he would prefer live food as he has lots of scars from live feeding by the previous owner, plus he hardly ever strikes at frozen food but will as mentioned strike at your hand if the smell of food is about.
