After a lot of thought, I've decided on a Rosy Boa as my first snake. They just seem to have all the qualities I'd want in a snake.
I went to VMS Professional Herpetoculture and looked over the different kinds of Rosy boas they had for sale. I was all set to buy the San Felipe Rosy, but the "rarely exceeds two feet in length" was the deal breaker for me. I would love a Rosy around 3 feet long. I know some types get up to 4 feet. Does anyone know of a Rosy type that gets between 3-4 feet fully grown? I'm not too picky on the coloring. I like the looks of Rosies in general, even if their coloring isn't as striking as an Abbott's Okeetee Corn Snake, for example. I particularly like the San Gabriel, Albino Limburg, Corn Springs, and Pioneertown Rosy Boas. Does anyone know how big these types get? Thanks for your help. |

It looks like you're going to want an L. t. roseofusca (unicolour Rosy Boa) or a L. t. myriolepis (Hemet / San Gabriel Mts / Anza Borrego / "Limburg" rosy boa) if you're looking for "Size".
The Albino Limburgs from the list you like are probably your best bet if that's the case... females up to four foot.

Thanks Ssthisto, some of those types you mentioned will actually be very good. I had my eye on the Hemet and the San Gabriels.
Should I go for the males or the females? Is there a difference in their temperaments, and do the females get quite a bit bigger than the males in these cases? Last edited by Tankard; 26-09-2008 at 05:10 PM.. |
