Default Young corn in 48" viv?

I've got a corn snake that's about 4 months old, would it be too much for the snake and freak it out if I was to move it into a 4' viv?

Its last skin shed was 16" long.

Cheers

Personally, I'd say yes, he'll freak out, but I'm sure others will disagree.

yep, reckon that's too much space personally, could you half it and put loads of greenery and hides in?

you will only know if you try it, just get loads of hides and decor in there and it will feel more secure. this comes up alot, ive got young royals in 3foot vivs and they love it. others may disagree because of the "snakes like small enclosures" argument, but as long as its full of wood and leaves and caves and other lovely stuff it will be like snakey heaven. so long as it keeps feeding it will be fine

you could always just section the viv off if you really arent sure

Greenery and hides not a problem, partitioning it in half in a snake-proof fashion would be difficult.

The reason I ask is because it's in one of those plastic vivs that's barely a foot long. Just seems a bit cruel restricting it so much.

So is the small plastic viv ok, if so, at what stage/length should I consider moving the snake into the 4' viv?

i have had my young milk snake in a 3 foot viv for 3 weeks and can honestly say i have had no problems. She feeds well always out (in evening) and easy to handle.

Needless to say all snakes are different and yours may not take to it. My opinion although probably dif to everyone elses is try it out. Gice the snake a week. If its feeding and exploring ok and will allow you to handle without always scurrying away then you will be fine.

In mine i have two hides one and each end, a log in the middle which the snake can hide under, lots of foliage to hide under and a moss box.

your snake will tell you very quickly if it likes it or not with body language, feeding habits and behaviour

Its not cruel at all, the snake probably loves it in there.

Oh, good. I was under the impression that the viv should be at least as long as the snake.
