what type of wood can be used in a snake viv.

Is there any wood/branches/bark that can be found in a local country
park that i can use?

I know it would have to be treated with heat/cold etc.
but what is recommended as the price for this type of stuff in shops is crazy.

Also, i was thinking of putting some backing in my vivs, is there anything that people use apart from the stuff you buy in shops.

And any other suggestions for diy deco would be great

i have heard that you can use wood from a fruit tree, but make sure you sterilise it first, don't use pine! i saw that someone used a cut up bamboo blind in the back of their viv and it looked quite good!

This is kind of in response to a couple of threads recently about putting young snakes in larger vivs,
and people recommending you fill it with hides, foliage etc and was wondering what is safe to use

and

to save myself money when i come to decorate my 4 new vivs
