Default innacurate dimmer stat dial?

hi i have a new dimmer stat for my royals viv,

i know the dials are a bit innacurate on the stats but could they be up to 3 degrees out as to get 30c at my probe the dimmer is reading 27c on the dial?

just thought i would ask to see if i have probe in wrong place?

or are the dials on stats really that far out?

It could be that far out. I don't really look at what the stat dial says, just look at the thermometer to check its reading good temps.

My stat somtimes say 88 but the therm says 80. Or the other way round. Just use the therm as your guide. Adj your stat to suite. Good luck.

I put both my stat and thermometer probes on the substrate below my ceramic and get a good thermal gradient in my 3x2x2 viv

yeah, you have to put the 2 probs on the substrate so you know the temp at the hottest end at the snaes level.
I tape my 2 probes together so the reading is as acurate as poss.

How are you measuring the temp, digital thermometer?

If so, they are more accurate than the thermostat.

I have mine where it will be hottest for the snake, usually on the substrate beneath or above the heat-source.
