Default Advice -New here

Hi,

I was wondering whether anyone could advise me, my dog sadly died last week and the PM results came back as a possible adder bite. He yelped when we were in the house and when I found him he had a lame hind leg. I hope that people do-not think I'm stupid but could an Adder have got in the house (we live near a river) and if so where would I look for it?

Thanks in Advance

yeah possible, they like water and grassey area's. more than likely look for a warm place to settle down in a (rat borrow) found it's way to your house, dog stepped on it and it bit in deffence.

but i must say that is very unlucky, normally quite shy animal that will normally run.

It's the time of year when Adders are looking for somewhere to winter so they could easily come indoors. Sorry to hear about your dog.
Graham.

I am very sorry for your dog.

Snakes can fit in ridiculously small places compared to their bodies. You need to check dark places, underneath and behind furniture. Hopefully the culprit is gone!!! You will find on the website the contact numbers of reptile rescue societies in case you find the adder (personally, I would not try to move it myself).

Good luck!

Sorry to hear your loss. as others have mentioned, Adders start to find shelters to brumate over the winter months. A House with central heating would be ideal, Although it is rather rare for this to happen.
