Some cool methods from aunty mo there,

I have done this with retics and burms, just be very careful how you set up the temp near the mum,

Too little will mean she will twitch allot and use up lots of energy for a full size retic 94 days of this will mean they lose ALLOT of condition, so monitor her carefully, maybe take a photo of her when she lays the eggs so you can easily see if she is losing weight.

Keeping humidity up in the UK can be hard work as often snakes lay their eggs in your winter time, if you have radiators in the room this will dry the air out and the eggs will lose condition unless you carefully monitor them. In the early stages the eggs will look nice and plump (they can get too plump from taking on too much water also), later in the incubation you may see the eggs dimple, in an incubator you can usually see if this is OK, but with maternal incunation you have to be sure the air isn't too dry.

My personal choice now is to artificially incubate, The breeding causes allot of stress on the females body and I prefer to get the females back to normal condition as soon as possible. Most of the time I feed the female on the same day she lays eggs, to get a feed in before she sloughs.

Artificial incubation is fantastic to watch and a great experiance to have. Don't be scared if the female goes off the eggs. They will often cruise around for a drink or to warm up.
The python egg surface temp should be around 31.5-32.2 deg c during incubation, the female can increase the temp 2-3 deg c so aim for a background temp a little coller than this.

About half way through incubation the eggs start to produce their own temperature (lots of little hearts beating in a small area !!) so the female will twitch less, during the last 10-14 days the temp requirements go down to around 30-31 deg c (a final cooling before hatching), this I do when artificially incubating now. I find the babies eat far more easily when you do this...and after all its what the mum does also !!!
