99.9% sure he'll just be a pretty royal as anyone selling royals will know if they carry any other genes apart from normal and will reflect it in the price unless it was say a 50% het then prices dont usually change much as it's not certain it is.

There is a possible het marker for pieds that runs along the belly. It hasn't proven out to be 100% accurate.

New born Axanthic hets come out kind of green compared to the normals in the same litter. They also have a faded triangle on the head. This came from the Barkers (VPI). The 2 het's I own have the faded head triangle.

Some morphs have them, some don't.

Who proved that and when? Most if not all het pieds i've seen have that marker and a lot of breeders still seem to look for it too, new one on me if it's been unproven.

You are correct, it is a hit and miss thing with the markers. In a litter of all 100% hets you can have some with it and some without it.

Most will still by into the markers over an animal without them from the same litter.

I have seen shipments of hundreds of balls come into Texas and many of the WC babies will have the markers. And I know they didnt breed het pieds.

just a big coincidence IMO xxx

i've seen the same comments on pied markers posted more times than i care to remember but unfortunately i've yet to see a 100% het without the belly markers. :icon_redface:

can either of you post pics of 100% hets that dont have the belly "markers". the small handfull of 100% het pieds that i have seen all have the so called characteristic "markings". for myself i hope figure this one in time as i have selection of poss hets from either het x het or het x normal breedings from which i have kept back females with and without the so called markings.

hopefully this little guy will sort things out on the genetic front

at the very worst i'll get 100% hets from a sucessful hatch...

regards
bob

interesting comment on the VPI axanthic line... i have a little hunch based on the 3 clutches that were sired by my male 100% het, but i didnt pick up on the fade triangle. the 1st clutch was het x normal and the latter 2 were het x het. this year i hope to get eggs from axanthic x het and also hear back from the lady that owns the 50% het females that are now being bred. so it will be interesting to see how things pan out. next year another friend should be breeding the 66% poss het females he bought to an axanthic male so it will be interesting to see what hatches out.

regards
bob
