He's looking better today . He's been having 2 baths a day and the viv, hide and water dish soaked at the same time. Hopefully keeping this up for a while longer and freezing or boiling absolutly everthing that goes in the viv from now on it's over woohoo!!

Just wanted to say that the avice I've gotten from on here has been 1st class. I had no idea that bathing him could help and I've dicovered he's a bit of a water babe in the process....

THANK YOU

Ive used both the ivermec in diluted spray form, and the mite eaters.. The snake went a bit nuts when i put the mite eaters in, as they were all over it, but once she realised they werent biting her, she settled and they did their stuff..

They eat the eggs too so ideal, no chemicles needed. The ivormec was very good, you treat the snake and cage, once a week for 6 wks.I cant remember if it kills the eggs. I didnt have any recurring mites when i used it..

hope this helps

I think Ivermec is one of the miain ingrediants of the beaphar insect spray if I remember correctly. Out of curiosity where can you get hold of these mite eaters from?

Smile mites

the one and only time i had mites i was told by a m8 to use.... cooking oil... but i fount in the end that front line in the spray form from the vets seem to do the trick and never had them since and hope never to again

the vet charged a £20 fee for a consultation then think the front line was £30 for the large bottle though and because Ive got dogs etc was worth paying a few bob more for a bigger bottle

Well Hiss had mites when I got him in January, and since Ive got him back off my ex about 3 weeks ago, he still has them.

Ive been treating him with Zoo Med mite off, and spraying everything really well in his Viv, but he has still been sitting in his bath like 3 days in a row, all day. Could there be anything else wrong with him?

With our baby corn we tried mite-off but it didnt seem to work, so we put him in a tub of warm water with a lid, and just enough space for him to breathe.

Pretty much all of the mites drowned, a lot of them remained on the snake but fell off when brushed off. the survivors had moved up to the tip of the head or the eyes, where they were sprayed with mite-off and are now presumably dead.

Just waiting for the shed!

Mite off is good stuff if you use it right. All you need is to get rid of the substrate in the viv, bake any wood you have, or replace it if you can. whats left in the viv daily with the mite off, including the snake. Should take a week or two, but it works.

Bake? Any specific temp? I tried freezing his cork bark last time and it didnt seem to work. Shud I soak it then freeze it so I end up with Mite-Icicles, or just bake it?

Im only 15 so i dont know much about oven temperatures. I just stick it in, turn it to 8 and leave it untill the house starts to smell like wood. :P
